This page is our summary of what Expand Energy publishes, in our own words. It is not Expand Energy’s requirement list and it can be out of date. PrequalReady is not affiliated with Expand Energy, ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce or any other network or operator.
1. Which network Expand Energy names
None. Expand Energy’s Suppliers pages and the contractor documents they link to do not name ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce or any other prequalification network. The Suppliers page says Expand evaluates a company’s safety and environmental record and its financial performance before work begins, and the HSER Contractor Management Standard refers to a Contractor Management System (CMS) without naming a product. Expand’s About page says Expand Energy was formed when Chesapeake Energy and Southwestern Energy combined.
2. What the sources say contractors must do
- Be evaluated and sponsored. An Expand employee sponsors a supplier’s onboarding, and the evaluation uses a supplier risk matrix and Expand’s HSER evaluation criteria for the scope of work. The Suppliers page also asks suppliers to uphold the Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes Expand’s human rights policy.
- Know your grade. The standard says a contractor with a D grade in Expand’s contractor management system goes through a Business Critical Exemption process, and that Expand may require an improvement plan.
- Complete orientation before work. Contractors make sure their employees and subcontractors have completed SafeLand, SafeGulf or RigPass orientation before drilling, completions, work on production facilities, or work where they may be exposed to oil or gas, and can show the card on request. They also complete Expand’s own contractor orientation every year before performing services, through the contractor management system, Expand’s suppliers web page or an Expand representative, and keep proof on site, such as a hard hat sticker, a verification card or a roster.
- Read the handbook and the Life Saving Rules. The standard says contractors and subcontractors review the Contractor Handbook and the Life Saving Rules before starting work. The handbook covers, among other things, short service employees, incident reporting and investigation, stop work authority, tools and equipment, vehicle operations, and emergency and environmental response.
- Training for the work. Contractors make sure employees and subcontractors have the regulatory training for their scope, that equipment operators are trained and qualified, and can give proof of training on request.
- A drug and alcohol-free workplace. Expand says it strictly enforces one, and points to a separate document of detailed requirements.
- Invoicing. A supplier that invoices Expand sets up an OpenInvoice account after it is approved, and sends one invoice per job within 90 days of the work date, with backup documents and a cost object.
- Audits and meetings. Expand says it audits compliance with the standard, runs field audits and on-site vendor engagements, and may hold contractor safety leadership forums.
- Who is outside the standard. It does not apply to scopes of work that Expand decides during supplier onboarding are outside its operational control, or to contingent workers and office-based consultants.
3. The yearly dates that apply
Expand Energy names no network, so there is no network renewal to track from its pages. These dates apply to any contractor who must keep OSHA injury and illness records. The ISNetworld renewal checklist explains them and shows its sources.
- Every year, before you do work for Expand: the Expand contractor orientation for your employees and subcontractors, with proof kept on site (section 6.2 of the standard).
- February 1, until April 30: post the OSHA 300A summary, if you must keep OSHA injury and illness records (OSHA 29 CFR 1904.32).
- March 2: submit the 300A to OSHA online, if your establishment is covered (OSHA 29 CFR 1904.41).
4. Confirm with Expand Energy
Requirements change. Expand’s supplier pages show no date; the download pages of its two documents do (see the sources below). Before you rely on any item here, confirm it with Expand Energy and in the documents your Expand sponsor gives you.
Other operators: Coterra Energy, Continental Resources, Williams, Energy Transfer, or all operator pages.

6. Keep it in one workspace
PrequalReady is a workspace that keeps each hiring client’s requirements, your documents and every expiry date in one place, and emails reminders before your dates. It does not log in to ISNetworld, Avetta or Veriforce for you, and it does not judge whether your documents are acceptable. It is free during early access. Keeping many contractors qualified? Start with the free checklist: the items hiring clients most often ask for, with their sources and the yearly dates, and Expand Energy already filled in. No account; nothing is sent anywhere.
