This page is our summary of what Occidental publishes, in our own words. It is not Occidental’s requirement list and it can be out of date. PrequalReady is not affiliated with Occidental, ISNetworld or any other network or operator.
1. Which network Occidental uses
ISNetworld. Occidental’s U.S. Offshore Health and Safety Contractor website links a Gulf of Mexico minimum training requirements document. The document says the listed training must be completed within ISNetworld for all contractor employees doing offshore work for Oxy, or they will scan RED. The website itself writes only “ISN” and tells contractors to ask their company’s ISN representative for details. We found no Oxy contractor page for its onshore operations, so this page covers the offshore requirements only.
2. What the sources say contractors must do
- Seven training qualifications in ISNetworld. Each offshore contractor employee must be qualified and up to date for: marine trash and debris awareness; water survival with helicopter underwater escape training (HUET); an offshore safety awareness or orientation course from an accredited provider such as Safe Gulf or Rig Pass; job-specific skills and knowledge verification; two Oxy online trainings, one titled “Moxie Media X904 Rider” and one on safe swing rope use; and Oxy’s Gulf of Mexico HSE orientation, online in English or Spanish. Most of the first four are entered by the contractor’s company in ISNetworld; the last three are Oxy online trainings that employees complete in ISNetworld.
- Well servicing and well control. For applicable employees, certificates under 30 CFR Subpart O (well servicing at supervisor and introductory level, well control at introductory and supervisory level) and production safety systems training are also required. The document says to assign each employee to the matching “Offshore Contractor Employee” activity in ISNetworld, well servicing or well control, before uploading the certificates.
- Report prescription medications. Contractors traveling offshore through Oxy’s heliports report authorized prescription medications to SMS Case Management. The page says this does not replace Oxy’s drug and alcohol requirements.
- Stop work authority. All Oxy contractors have it, and it applies whenever someone sees an actual or perceived unsafe or potentially damaging condition or act.
- Observations. Oxy strongly encourages contractors to take part in its behavior-based safety observation process.
- Other documents on the site. The website also hosts the offshore HSE policy, a list of controlled items for helicopter passengers, heat stress guidance and an offshore travel checklist.
3. The yearly dates that apply
These dates apply to any contractor on ISNetworld, whichever hiring client asked for it. The ISNetworld renewal checklist explains each one and shows its source.
- Every year, on or before the anniversary of your ISN activation date: pay the annual fee to renew your ISNetworld subscription (ISN User Agreement).
- February 1, until April 30: post the OSHA 300A summary, if you must keep OSHA injury and illness records (OSHA 29 CFR 1904.32).
- March 2: submit the 300A to OSHA online, if your establishment is covered (OSHA 29 CFR 1904.41).
- Your own dates for this client: the expiry or renewal date of each of the seven training qualifications for every offshore employee, kept current in ISNetworld, because the document says employees who are not current scan RED.
4. Confirm with Occidental
Requirements change. Oxy’s website shows no date, and the training document’s title ends in “1-25-24”. Before you rely on any item here, confirm it with your Oxy offshore contact and in your own ISNetworld account, where each hiring client’s requirements are listed.

6. Keep it in one workspace
PrequalReady is a workspace that keeps each hiring client’s requirements, your documents and every expiry date in one place, and emails reminders before your dates. It does not log in to ISNetworld, Avetta or Veriforce for you, and it does not judge whether your documents are acceptable. It is free during early access. Keeping many contractors qualified?
