This page is our summary of what SM Energy publishes, in our own words. It is not SM Energy’s requirement list and it can be out of date. PrequalReady is not affiliated with SM Energy, ISNetworld or any other network or operator.
1. Which network SM Energy uses
ISNetworld (ISN). SM Energy’s People and Community Engagement page says SM Energy uses ISNetworld to facilitate the collection, maintenance and verification of contractor information. Its Vendor Information page names no prequalification network.
2. What the sources say contractors must do
- Submit your information to ISN. Contractors submit their safety and training programs, their safety performance data and proof of insurance to ISN, which independently verifies them.
- Follow your own programs and the law. SM Energy expects contractors to comply with their own EHS programs and with state and federal regulations, and to respect its safety-first culture.
- Be graded. Contractors are graded on the strength of their EHS management systems and training programs, and on performance.
- Expect audits. SM Energy periodically audits a sampling of its contractors at the corporate and field level, to check that safety programs and training are in place.
- Stop work. A Stop Work Authority directive at all its sites lets any employee or contractor stop work they believe is unsafe.
- New suppliers. An SM Energy employee must sponsor a new supplier and submit a New Supplier Request Form with a business justification. Creating an optional profile on Enverus RFx does not guarantee business, and SM Energy’s preferred way to invoice is Enverus OpenInvoice.
3. The yearly dates that apply
These dates apply to any contractor on ISNetworld, whichever hiring client asked for it. The ISNetworld renewal checklist explains each one and shows its source.
- Every year, on or before the anniversary of your ISN activation date: pay the annual fee to renew your ISNetworld subscription (ISN User Agreement).
- February 1, until April 30: post the OSHA 300A summary, if you must keep OSHA injury and illness records (OSHA 29 CFR 1904.32).
- March 2: submit the 300A to OSHA online, if your establishment is covered (OSHA 29 CFR 1904.41).
- Your own dates for this client: the expiry of your insurance and of your training records in ISN, which SM Energy’s grading looks at. The pages give no other dates.
4. Confirm with SM Energy
Requirements change, and the pages we read show no date. Before you rely on any item here, confirm it with SM Energy and in your own ISNetworld account, where each hiring client’s requirements are listed.
Other operators: Continental Resources, Coterra Energy, Chord Energy, Ovintiv, EQT, or all operator pages.
5. Sources
Every source was opened on October 14, 2026.
- SM Energy, People and Community Engagement and Vendor Information (no date on either page; copyright 2026).
- ISNetworld, User Agreement for contractors and suppliers (no date on the page).
- OSHA, 29 CFR 1904.32 and 29 CFR 1904.41.
PrequalReady is not affiliated with SM Energy, ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce or any hiring client. Their names belong to their owners.
6. Keep it in one workspace
PrequalReady is a workspace that keeps each hiring client’s requirements, your documents and every expiry date in one place, and emails reminders before your dates. It does not log in to ISNetworld, Avetta or Veriforce for you, and it does not judge whether your documents are acceptable. It is free during early access. Keeping many contractors qualified?
